Time Capsule Contents

The WHS Science Fiction class taught by Mrs. Jeannette Sosinski was buried in a special burial ceremony on June 7, 1974 and was meant to be opened after 50 years. 

After the WHS Class of 1974 Time Capsule was exhumed during the Time Capsule Ceremony on Friday, September 20, 2024, Gerardo Gordillo, the Facilitator of Communications & Engagement for Waukegan Public Schools (WPS 60), took possession of all the materials that were found in the Time Capsule in order to scan in every page of every document to maintain a permanent record of what was found. All together, there were more than 350 individual pages scanned in!!

The contents of the TIme Capsule will be retained by Waukegan Public Schools. It is hoped that an exhibit of the contents can be hosted by the Waukegan Historical Society at some point in the future.
